How to Write 10,000 Words a Week

Posted on January 31, 2023March 5, 2023 by Terry White

This article discusses how to write 10,000 words a week and outlines some tips for doing so. – As a very busy professional writer, writing several thousand words can be difficult. Writing high quality words can be even more challenging. The key to boosting your output as a professional writer looks at how to write in a way that will allow you to crank out massive quantities of good words in the same amount of time. A professional writer looks at their day and decides which will be the most efficient for getting their first words down. This could mean participating in NaNoWriMo, or simply deciding whether or not it is worth writing instead of doing something else in life or another part of your profession.

To reach 10,000 words a week, you should first estimate your writing speed and how much time you need in order to write 10,000 words. It is not easy to crank out 10,000 words every week and it is impossible without enough ideas. You can set yourself a daily word count goal of 1,500 or 2,000 words per day if you need as much time as possible to reach the 10,000 words in a week. For example if you can write 1,500 words in an hour then that would mean 8-10 hours of writing each day depending on the hour range. This should include idea development and other activities related to your work such as research or outlining.

To write 10,000 words a week, set up a writing session for yourself for a few hours per day. If you were to do this in a single 8-hour day, you would need to write 1,250 words each hour. If you only got one hour of writing time that day, then you would need to write 100 words in that time. Keep track of your progress with a spreadsheet and note how many words you wrote per day and how many days it took you to reach 10,000. Make sure to be mindful of distractions and excuses – try your best to stay on track.

To write 10,000 words a week on my books, I will set most other activities aside and dedicate five days to writing. My goal is to write 2,000 words each day until Saturday night – unless something comes up. To ensure I reach my word count goal, I will count my words each day and make it a priority to hit the thousand mark.

As an author and freelance writer, I’m aware that my day job of writing consists of more than just words. It also involves solving problems and finding solutions. This can be difficult when I need to write 10,000 words a week. To help me get ample rest and complete my writing tasks on time, I will plan out my day before I even start writing. This will allow me to focus on other professions if needed or take some downtime when needed.

Writing 10,000 words a week is achievable if you are conscious of your precious writing time and how to use it most efficiently. College students will need to break down the goal into smaller tasks, such as write essays of around 60 – 70 words per minute. It’s important to practice and track your results so that you can see what works best for you. One hour in the morning, afternoon or evening can be used for practice and when you feel comfortable with your speed you can start writing in order of priority and others depending on the hours available.
